The Sustainable Glow-Up: PGP Glass and the Dot & Key Transformation

The Challenge of Evolution: From Plastic to Purity

Dot & Key, a rapidly growing brand subsidiary of Nykaa recognized a crucial need: to align their packaging with their deep-seated commitment to sustainability. Following the pioneering vision of founders Suyash Saraf and Anisha Saraf, who championed eco-friendly initiatives, the brand sought to transition its extensive line of skincare jars from plastic to premium glass.

The primary hurdle was preserving the brand’s unique identity. Dot & Key’s caps were a recognizable visual signature, and the new glass jars needed to accommodate these existing caps to ensure continuity and consumer recognition.

Design Mastery: Mimicking Plastic for Brand Continuity

PGP Glass embraced this technical challenge. Our design and mold engineering teams worked meticulously to mimic the exact specifications of the original plastic neck ring onto the new glass jar. This precise adaptation ensured that the visually unique caps fit flawlessly, instantly maintaining the strong brand association while dramatically elevating the overall perceived quality and feel of the product.

This innovative solution was instrumental. It allowed Dot & Key to embrace sustainable glass packaging—inherently recyclable and superior in aesthetic—without undergoing a costly cap redesign or sacrificing the brand’s established look.

Impact and Legacy: Bottling Sustainability

This initial success paved the way for a full-scale packaging transition. Since that first project, PGP Glass has successfully migrated nearly all Dot & Key applications to glass, fundamentally enhancing their entire product range’s eco-friendliness and sustainability credentials.

Today, this strategic partnership continues to thrive. The collaboration between Dot & Key and PGP Glass stands as a powerful testament to how design ingenuity can meet sustainability goals, proving that a commitment to the planet and commercial success can beautifully coexist.
